Since babies only feed from their mothers milk for the first 6 months, it is advised that the surgery be postponed, if not urgent, until the baby has started supplements. However, if the mother will have the surgery at this period, she should store milk for the baby beforehand since she will get anesthesia. She can resume breastfeeding 8 hours after the surgery.
Medications such as Vitamin E, Asprin should be discontinued as they are blood thinners that contribute to coagulation prevention and increase bleeding.
It takes approximately 1.5-2 hours.
There can be a slight feeling of fullness around the nose and the forehead area. And the patient can use the doctor approved painkiller medications.
There can be a slight bleeding like a very small leak that gradually fades during the first 48 hours after surgery.
1 day of bedrest is necessary after surgery. On the second day of surgery, there should be 5-10 minutes of light walks. From the third day forward, normal daily household activities can be done. After 1 week, the patient can go back to work unless he/she is working under heavy conditions.
There can be slight bruising and swelling after surgery depending on the individual nature of the body. However, it will start to fade starting from the second day after the surgery.
Bandages are generally removed on the seventh day.
It is important not to sleep face down. Instead, the patient should sleep lying on their back and not put pressure on the nose. It is also important to protect the nose from the sun and also from any kind of impact or trauma. Therefore, for the first 3 months, patients should not be participating in contact sports such as football, basketball, volleyball etc. The patients are also advised to stay away from activities that increase blood pressure.
Foundation can be used after the second day of surgery. After 3-4 days, a close-to-regular makeup can be done.
For 1-2 months, patients should not wear heavy glasses that can put pressure on the nose.
